Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach his previous coach.
Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from that period of that year.
The win also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
Moutet defended four early chances in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
